What is RENEW?
RENEW is a nonprofit organization that helps groups of health care professionals and others consider the health of their workplace and their own lives. What we offer is neither a dose of medicine nor a magic bullet. It’s neither therapy nor a support group. We provide opportunities for individuals in groups to analyze challenges and develop tangible solutions so that the group members can work and live with more focus, energy, and resilience.
What exactly does RENEW do?
Our custom-designed programs help you think about what’s going on in your whole life: what’s working, what’s not. We provide questions and an opportunity for reflection. Then we offer specific, practical ways of addressing the problems, both as a group and as individuals.
What kinds of groups call on RENEW?
We work primarily with health care professionals. We also work with non-profit executives, boards, and volunteers. We lead seminars and workshops in universities, hospitals, clinics, medical practices, and national organizations.
How long are the programs?
We offer 90-minute presentations, half-day, full-day, and two-day workshops, and keynote addresses. We also offer Conversation Groups©, and Convener-Development for Conversation Groups and for group leaders.
How often do you meet with a group?
Meetings can be one-offs or ongoing. Some groups like to renew with RENEW periodically. We may help establish follow-up Conversation Groups, for example, or hold follow-up workshops quarterly. Many organizations keep inviting us back to work with new employees, or new fellows, or to be part of an orientation program.

We are located in San Francisco, California.
Do you work with out-of-state groups?
Yes, we work throughout the United States
and Canada.
Support RENEW
You can support RENEW by donating via Community Initiatives. We appreciate your gift.
We can plan a 90-minute program within 21 days. We ask for 30 to 45 days to prepare half-day, full-day, or two-day programs.
Do you provide teaching materials?
Yes. We devise or revise them and then send them to the program organizers electronically so that they can distribute them electronically, print out them, and possibly hand them out, before the program as the case may be.
We can also provide “warm-up” questions to engage your group ahead of time. The responses sent to us are always kept confidential.
How much do you charge?
The price varies according to the scope of the work. As a nonprofit ourselves, we’re mindful of budget constraints. Some organizations have us meet with several groups within that organization and/or have us return more than once; for these organizations, we offer a frequent- or repeat-business rate. The fee includes all planning, materials, program leadership, and evaluation. If there’s traveling involved, we ask you to cover our travel costs.
